Why I Started Dutchess Care
I started Dutchess Care because of my grandmother. She spent her whole life working, saving, and planning so she would never have to go into a nursing home. Independence and dignity meant everything to her. But when her health declined and she couldn’t care for herself anymore, things didn’t go the way she planned. Instead of receiving the in-home support she wanted, she ended up in a nursing facility—something she never wanted for herself.
Watching that experience showed me how many seniors lose control over their lives simply because they don’t have the right support system. Families are often overwhelmed, resources are limited, and seniors who just need reliable care, transportation, and companionship end up isolated or placed somewhere against their wishes.
Dutchess Care was born from that reality. My goal is to create options my grandmother didn’t have—services that allow seniors to stay active, stay connected, and feel respected. Whether it’s transportation for appointments, group outings, lunch trips, family visits, or companionship support, Dutchess Care exists to give seniors freedom and families peace of mind.
This business isn’t just professional—it’s personal. It’s my way of turning what my grandmother went through into something better for someone else’s loved one.
